Hello Everyone! My name is Steven Laws, I’m the Beverage Director for the Cotton Room at Belfast Mill and for this month’s whiskey club we’re gonna be premiering 5 different whiskies from Templeton Distillery, with Matt Hester coming to teach the class. I’m a big fan of this distilleries work and am happy to finally be doing a class with them.
Templeton Distillery is in Templeton, Iowa and traces its roots back along family lines to the bootleggers of prohibition. The folks at Templeton believe that more than any other spirit, American whiskey represents freedom and unification and their whiskies are made in the tradition of original American ryes.
Whiskies being premiered:
Templeton Fortitude Bourbon: A blend of corn, rye, and malted barley that leads way to full bodied notes of honey, toasted oak, and subtle rye with a savory finish.
Templeton 4 Year Rye: Using thoughtfully sourced and imported grains this whiskey offers notes of butterscotch, toffee, and allspice with a balanced, clean finish.
Templeton 6 Year Rye: Templeton’s Flagship Rye Whiskey with notes of mellowed fruit and toasted oak with a long and lingering spicy finish.
Templeton Rye Stout Cask Finish: From Templeton’s limited edition barrel finish series, this rye is finished in a bourbon barrel aged chocolate coffee stout cask for 3 months that imparts notes of molasses, black cherry, leather, and coffee.
Templeton Midnight Rye: A delectable blend of American rye whiskey with dark port wine. Silky Notes of cinnamon, dark chocolate, fig, dried fruits, and a whisper of black pepper.
