Vocalist Dominique Eade and pianist Ran Blake celebrate four decades of musical partnership with Afternoon Noir, a live concert on Sunday, June 11 at The Mad Monkfish, Cambridge, MA.
Concert presents all new repertoire for upcoming recording session.
Blake and Eade have performed together since the 1980 when Eade came to study at New England Conservatory. They have given numerous concerts and recorded two outstanding CDs.
“With her clear and radiant but forcefully grounded voice, Eade investigates the
songs like a diamond cutter, taking time to highlight their unique harmonic
facets while never losing sight of their emotional meaning. Blake’s spare,
elegant backing illuminates her in a wintry light, with occasional dissonant
shivers.” — Lloyd Sachs, Jazz Press
“Visionary pianist and composer Ran Blake with his longtime collaborator,
the brilliant singer, composer and teacher Dominique Eade. On record and
in concert, these two always manage to go far and deep, whether in
Blake’s film noir-inspired originals, jazz standards, or blues and folk.” —Jon Garelick, The Arts Fuse
