- Our Story - Over two decades ago, award-winning Chef Youji Iwakura introduced Boston to a renaissance of authentic Japanese cuisine. His vision—rooted in washoku and shaped by seasonality and restraint—became the foundation of a movement.

In 2018, that philosophy took form as Kamakura, the first modern kaiseki (会席 and 懐石) restaurant in the city. During the pandemic, he launched a curbside ghost kitchen serving his signature Sashimi Chirashi Sushi and jewel-like Poke Boxes (currently paused)...

***A Note for Our Guests We’re happy to share that, with the recent cooler weather, the dining environment has become much more comfortable, with temperatures averaging about 10°F lower than during the recent heat. We also have two portable coolers in the guest seating area to help keep things comfortable. Pick-up time will be announced. --- THURSDAY — Cha-Kaiseki Dinner (茶懐石の夕べ) $50/guest deposit 7:00 pm — 13 courses — $180 A seasonal Cha-Kaiseki dinner featuring traditional Washoku dishes, oshizushi, and the progression into a seasonal Kaiseki dinner. --- FRIDAY — Chef's Sushi & Seasonal Washoku / Kaiseki Experience (鮨と和食の夕べ) $100/guest deposit 7:00 pm — 19 courses — $240 An elevated sushi and kaiseki inspired seasonal Washoku experience showcasing the finest ingredients of the season through the rhythm of the counter. --- SATURDAY — Chef's Signature Sushi & Kaiseki Dinner (For regular guests and referrals in September) (鮨と会席の夕べ) $100/guest deposit 7:00 pm — 20 courses — $275 Our flagship Sushi & Kaiseki dinner, representing the full expression of Washoku Renaissance. --- SUNDAY — Closed Private dinners available. Reservation Cut-Off Policy Sushi Supper (Tue): Reservations must be made by 6:00 PM the day before. WR Kaiseki Series (Thurs & Sat): Reservations must be made by 3:00 PM the day before. **Reservation Notes Rescheduling = cancellation. Please review our policy before booking. Dietary Restrictions We only accommodate minor dietary restrictions. Please provide details with your booking. Safety: Due to our small kitchen and the risk of cross-contamination, we cannot accommodate serious allergies. Exclusions: We cannot cater to wheat, soy, or fin fish restrictions. Special Occasions We do not serve cakes, as they do not pair with our menu. Instead, we offer a special celebratory plating for our fruit course. Beverages Drinks are a separate service and transaction via the food hall bar. We are happy to provide pairing recommendations.
