Since our last supper, Woldy has published his cookbook IN THE KUSINA: My Seasonal Filipino Cooking. It is a visually rich celebration of Woldy’s heritage filtered through his distinct lens as a queer, first-generation Filipino American. Woldy's love letter to filipino cooking is a treasure trove of elegant and bold flavors.
The feast will draw from Woldy's recipes as a belated celebration of his book, but also weave in notes of Westerly's California inspired- Hudson Valley dishes.
Molly and Woldy's food have always been aligned in their sourcing, seasonality, and bright herbaceous palates. He is not only a dear friend, but with his ethos, a natural match to Westerly. Sourcing from the Hudson Valley, Molly and Woldy's food philosophies harmonize to culminate in a menu that will keep you cool and fill you up on a joyful August night.
This abundant feast will be served family style. Tickets include a multi course supper and dessert. Drinks will be available for a la carte purchase.
For those who do not know him, Woldy Reyes is a Chef and Founder of the boutique catering company, Woldy Kusina, based in Brooklyn, New York. Woldy Kusina’s cuisine is centered around a simple philosophy — to provide good food and good experiences, with sustainability and culture at the heart of it all. As a first-generation Filipino American, Reyes effortlessly infuses contemporary dishes with vibrant flavors and colors that are inspired by his roots. Using only seasonal and locally sourced ingredients, his menus are best described as fresh, natural and fulfilling.
