On February 13, 1866, the James Gang—led by Jesse James—carried out the first successful daytime, peacetime bank robbery in U.S. history at the Clay County Savings Association in Liberty, Missouri. It marked the beginning of a regional and national legend born from a turbulent era and the rise of the industrial American West.
On this anniversary, we’re proud to introduce James Gang Rye Whiskey—a 100‑proof collaboration between West Bottoms Whiskey Co. and the Jesse James Family Farm. This release isn’t just another bottle. It’s an homage. A handshake across time. A whiskey built with grit, grain, and a complicated story worth retelling.
Join us on March 7th for the official launch at the distillery, featuring two special historical tours at 1 PM and 3 PM.
Each tour includes:
- A guided walk through the distillery with a focus on 19th‑century Missouri whiskey history
- Re‑enactors bringing the James Gang era to life
- Artifacts and stories from the James family legacy
- A first taste of James Gang Rye
James Gang Rye will soon be available in liquor stores across Missouri and Kansas, but the first pour belongs to those who saddle up early.
This whiskey is bold, peppery, and commanding-- built at 100 proof because anything less wouldn’t fit the story.
Come raise a glass with us in the West Bottoms, where history and whiskey shake hands.
*A portion of proceeds supports the preservation of the James Family Farm.
