From dedicated water menus to the rise of retail goods in restaurants, we’ve searched far and wide to present to you the top five trends to look out for in the new year. Take what resonates with your brand, guests, and goals as you shape your offerings for 2025.

1. Restaurants are building loyalty

“Get with the program,” says the National Restaurant Association. Loyalty programs are no longer just for the big chains. Independent restaurants, coffee shops, and delis are leveraging data and technology with loyalty programs that build relationships with guests and encourage repeat visits. Consider how you might reward those who frequent your business the most. For more, download Tock’s free guide to data analytics.

2. Expanded retail in restaurants

While delivery is in demand, not everyone is a fan of the high prices that come with it. Nestlé’s latest food trends report spotlights the need for home-cooked convenience. Food & Wine says, “In 2025, we might see a rise in home cooking that relies on premade sauces, marinades, and prepped ingredients.” With restaurant retail already on the rise, we expect hospitality businesses to step up their retail offerings to meet this demand and compete with pre-made grocery store offerings.

3. Tributes to cultural icons

Houston’s FLORA sold out an Anthony Bourdain dinner, Chicago’s Next is currently running a tribute to the late Charlie Trotter, Brochu’s Family Tradition paid homage to Jimmy Buffet with a sold-out experience on the anniversary of the musician’s death, and in Seattle, Shibuya HiFi honored Prince with a high fidelity Purple Rain listening party. In 2025, we expect to see even more experiences that pay tribute to cultural figures and notable menus of the past. It’s a great way to change things up for both the staff and guests alike.

4. Dedicated water menus

Back in 2023, Svalbarði Polar Iceberg Water published a blog post detailing 25 water menus at restaurants, bars, and hotels around the world. “The trend of dedicated water menus continues to grow in Michelin Star and other top restaurants as diners increasingly seek specific waters to enjoy with their food choices.” Martin Riese is a water sommelier—yes, sommelier—paving the way, ensuring water gets the respect it deserves. We expect hydration trends to grow in 2025 as consumers discover more variety for their hydration and wellness needs.

5. A side of entertainment

Food and beverage may be the most important element to your restaurant, but businesses have been doubling down on unique experiences because consumers are looking for a side of entertainment with their entrées. Whether that means live music, a show, interactive dining, or a thematic menu, restaurants and bars are realizing that it takes more than food and beverage to stand out and keep guests coming back.
